BFK’s Public Bike Art: 2019-2021

Bike Friendly Kalamazoo (BFK) held Public Bike Art Competitions from 2019-2021, thanks to generous support from The Vicksburg Foundation.  The Village of Vicksburg Michigan has great respect for the arts.  On behalf of the Village of Vicksburg and our generous sponsors, we thank all the artists from around the United States for their submissions.

In addition to $1,750 in Juried Awards presented in 2019, due to the impressive quality of the entries submitted in 2020 and 2021 we added Honorable Mention President’s Award winners.

Our volunteer jury members have been chaired by volunteers no less wonderful:
2019 – John Kern
2020 – Patrick Jouppi
2021 – Lori Knapp
They and their juries have our enduring thanks for helping to bring the joy of bicycling into the community!

In 2020 the chair of the Jury Committee was inspired to create an online gallery of their works.  This proved to be so successful that we continued that tradition in 2021.  You will find these virtual galleries in our pull-down menus.  Please browse through the galleries of winning entries to see what we meant by “bike art” — two-dimensional artistic expressions (rather than artfully designed or delightfully decorated bicycles).  We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
